Guest Writer Series: Ron’s Hamburgers and Chili

Posted on by

Welcome back to Central’s Guest Writer Blog Series! We are getting insight from those in the company about events, experiences, food and more. This week we continue to look into our staff’s memorable or extraordinary dining experiences from around the country.

Russell Dehart, programmer/analyst for Central Restaurant Products, has been visiting Ron’s Hamburgers and Chili in Tulsa, OK for 13 years.

Ron’s Hamburgers and Chili opened its doors in 1975 by Ron Baber and his family. The restaurant’s website says Baber quit his job with Crane Carrier Corporation for his own restaurant. While the original location is no longer standing, today Ron’s has over 18 locations throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas.

“Ron’s has several locations in the Tulsa area all of which appear to be just a typical burger-joint,” Dehart says. “The food however sets this chain apart.”

While Ron’s has a wide range of burgers and chili, they also carry many unique items that draw in customers like Dehart with the sausage cheeseburger, Mexican steak and polish sausage.

Dehart has tried almost everything on the menu and the Jumbo Chili Cheeseburger with Spanish fries and a frosted mug of root beer are his favorite.

“The burgers are good, the chili and Spanish fries are great and the frosted mugs of root beer are perfect for washing it down.”

Dehart describes the average price per meal as $8 to $12.

Ron’s has been voted “Best Hamburger and Chili” by the Urban Tulsa Weekly and awarded four stars by the International Chili Society.
