Danielle, 17, of Indianapolis, Ind., has battled Sickle-Cell Anemia since birth, a condition where the body makes crescent-shaped red blood cells.
Make-A-Wish explained this can cause a blockage of blood flow which results in pain, serious infections and organ damage.
Despite her illness, Danielle focuses on school and her future. She values her education and her wish to the Make-A-Wish Foundation was to have a college scholarship.
Exciting news, Danielle’s wish through the Make-a-Wish Foundation has been granted.
Danielle plans to attend Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) for two years, then hopes to eventually be able to attend a school in a warm place.
“For Danielle, who has a lot taken out of her by her illness, a wish will provide hope, strength and joy,” Make-A-Wish said.
