In August 2009, Product Consultant Bob Davidson enjoyed his experience at Top of the Rock, a restaurant in the Marriott Buttes Resort in Tempe, Arizona.

He stayed at the resort with his brother for their 25th family reunion, however does not recommend vacationing in the area in August. He said by 7 a.m. the temperature was over 100°F and was 115-120°F in the afternoon. Despite the heat, he had a good experience indoors.

“Our Top of the Rock restaurant in Tempe features world-class dining, spectacular vistas and a special Champaign brunch on Sundays,” the Marriott website described.  This restaurant is open for dinner with a casual dress code.

During Davidson’s visit to Top of the Rock, he had the shrimp cocktail for the appetizer and said it beats St. Elmo’s by a long shot.

Following the appetizer, he had an 8 oz. filet mignon with a baked potato and salad.

“Never had any better,” he said.

Not including the drink or tip, Davidson described the average price of a meal around $70 per person and highly recommends the service and food.

“Chef Jim Hildebrand visited every table to make sure all was in perfect condition,” he said about his experience.  “If not, he made it right.”

The Marriott Buttes Resort has three other restaurants—Market Café, Thirsty Cactus Pool Bar and Grill and Tequila on the Rocks. They also have a lobby lounge with lunch and dinner selections.

The resort sits at the top of a 25-acre valley landmark and includes two swimming pools, water slide, Narande spa, fitness center, tennis courts and sand volleyball.

There are 353 smoke-free guest rooms at the Marriott Buttes Resort with amenities such as work desks, ergonomic chairs and mini-bars and marble bathrooms.

When Davidson reflected on the atmosphere, he simply replied, “Ah…air conditioning!”
